PLS Logistics Services has been dedicated to providing transportation logistics solutions to a growing variety of industries since its beginnings in 1991. Originally serving leading companies in the metals industry, Pittsburgh Logistics Systems expanded to lumber and building products industries in 1994, and began partnering with key companies in the nuclear, hazardous materials and industrial equipment industries two years later.
In 1999, we launched a website, our innovative, proprietary web-based Transportation Management System. The expansion continued in 2002 when we began working with mini-mills, service centers and outside processors in the metals industry, and the following year we were providing dedicated transportation services to meet fluctuations in carrier availability. Our freight brokerage service, PLS Freight Solutions, was launched in 2006, connecting shippers on a transactional basis with the PLS Carrier Network of over 5000 carriers.
